Onam Festival 2006

On September 09, we celebrated Onam at Merchant Navy Club, W.Island. TG Ravi, the famous actor alumni presided over the day and sat through all the nite and distributed the prizes to the winners and participants. The great Maveli did breeze in on us, graced the area and enlightened us with his wisdom and eventually ended up blessing children before he fell back to his whirlwind tour.
At the hall there was pillow fight (Ona thallu) and tug of war and of course cheruthadi was in full swing. 70 families showed up, small for the big hall. The orchestra and the long line of singers did leave the crowd and children thrilled and tapping their shoes.

Onam celebration 2005

On 9th October 2005 we celebrated Onam (better late than never), at Willingdon Island Mariners club. With thoozhanila and (chicken ? ) thoran, and 20 others spice curries, sweeped in with Payasam, the food was fantastic, the mood was very positive and high. The gathering had a few traditional games like tug-of-war and other games which the the ladies and children actively participated. The crowd at spot were entertained by singers and DJ like Harikumar and team. The singers panel included George F Chethalan, Philly Cherian, Hari Kumar, KR Rajan, where did Pratapan our own nightangle vanish that day nobody knows. Many a Ladies and kids also stepped in bravely to entertain by their melodies the otherwise enthusiastic crowd. The participants were rewarded and show was carried forward by the Maveli (CCantonees) who in all his splendour and Royalty took the show unto his hands and when all ended we could' nt but notice a couple of kids trying out the magic crown and waiting for the cast to descend upon them with good results.

2006 family gettogether at Renaissance Hotel EKM

On the 21st of January 2006, we had our New year celebrations, The dinner was well spread, exotic and delicious and the spirits were hovering at sky level. Out of a few faces at the gathering, I can spot KM Michael, Ajayan Peter, Philly Cherian, Ummer B, Prasad K Panicker te al... Most of the photos were focused on the banners of our benefactors/sponsors, hence not so good pictures by photo standards. But the sponsors could make it a subsidised-one-heck of an evening. Ladies put in a great effort to sing a few songs for all of us and few kids too took centre stage in entertaining. So much for a great day. If you found the mens chairs empty, no surprise gifts for the find, spirit find their level that is always empty. But not all are Bacchus to it. We all look out for the next Onam meeting.
